The Royal Spotlight is an interview series where I highlight queens from a variety of pageant systems. This month I had the pleasure of interviewing Ms. Alabama United States 2015 Kelli Sale.
Tell us about yourself.
I was born and raised in Hoover, Alabama. I attended Auburn University and received a Bachelor of Science in Business. While at Auburn I was on the Auburn University Dance Line and a member of Phi Sigma Pi Co-Ed Honors Fraternity. After college I moved back to Hoover, Alabama to start my career. I’m currently the Membership Director at Riverchase Country Club and a dance instructor at Exclusively Ballet & Dance. I sit on the board of Nicole’s Dancing Angels Foundation, a member of Young Professionals of Birmingham, and Junior Patron of the Birmingham Museum of Arts.
When did you start competing in pageants?
I won my first pageant at 18 months old. The pageant was called Miss Tiny Baby Hemisphere, and I attended the national pageant in Miami.
Why do you compete in pageants?
I started competing in pageants to build character. I was shy when I was young and pageantry brought me out of my shell. The interviewing, completing applications, and articulation skills learned during the pageant process helped me in all walks of life. These skills are especially helpful when applying for a job or college. The one attribute that has stuck with me is the ability to speak more effectively on stage and off stage.
How many titles have you won?
Honestly, I can’t remember them all. When you start at 18 months, there are quite a few. 🙂 My ending title is Ms. Alabama United States 2015.
