The Royal Spotlight is an interview series where I highlight queens from a variety of pageant systems. This month I have the pleasure of featuring Angenique Haynes, Miss Infinity Midwest USA 2019.
Tell us about yourself.
My name is Angenique Haynes. I am a dedicated woman of God, a mother, family oriented, and a community leader.
When did you start competing in pageants?
I started competing when I was 17 years old. I was referred by a woman named Hannah Phillips who thought I would be a great fit. I have been competing ever since.
Why do you compete in pageants?
I compete because I love the pageant systems and what they stand for. I enjoy making a difference and giving back and being a part of different communities and standing for something to make change.
How many titles have you won?
4 titles
What have you learned about yourself through your pageant experience?
I have learned self-love and to push yourself to keep going especially when you believe in something so strong you should never give up.
What are your future plans for your pageant career?
My dream is to open a youth center; I have wanted to do this for a long time now especially in the city of Chicago with all the violence that is occurring. I feel the youth need more guidance, and I feel if we have more youth programs for the youth they will feel there’s an opportunity for them to do something with their lives, and more doors will open for them.
What words of advice do you live by?
“If it disturbs your peace, remove it.”
I say this persistently for many reasons because it is so important to be around people who motivate, inspire and uplift you. Anyone who is not will only bring you down and deter you from your goals. It’s so important to stay focused and surround yourself with people who wish you well and have your best interest at heart.
