As you know I love all things pageantry, but I especially love when friends of mine organize pageants centered around commemorative events in history. For those of you who may not be familiar with this moment in time, Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. It dates back to June 19, 1865.
The title of this post tells it all, and the Miss Juneteenth Pageant is coming to Alabama. This pageant is open to young ladies ages 13-18 who reside in the State of Alabama. The registration cost is only $25.00, and the winner will receive a $500.00 college scholarship. Applications are available at bit.ly/missjuneteenth.
If you have any questions about being a contestant, volunteer, or sponsor, please contact Jessica Alexander at info@operationevolve.com. Also, if you want to learn more about the history of Juneteenth, please visit http://www.juneteenth.com/history.htm.
I hope to see you on June 16th for this inaugural event!
