For the third year in a row, I had the honor and privilege of serving as a staff member for the 2019 America’s Elite Miss Pageant. Twenty-six contestants and their families journeyed to the The Hotel at Avalon in Alpharetta, Georgia, to compete in a system where its contestants are known for their beautiful strength.
After each contestant picked up her AEM bag filled with information at registration, she began her journey to the crown which consisted of early morning and evening rehearsals, optional competitions, and required competitions.
Contestants vying for the crown competed in the following required categories:
Personal Introduction-20%
Interview-30%
Formal Wear-30%
On Stage Question-10%
Bio/Picture Page-10%
The contestants also had the opportunity to earn other accolades by participating in optional competitions such as National Spokesmodel, National Catalogue Model, National Runway Model, National Patriotic Wear, National Photogenic Award, National Talent, and National Elite Top Model.
Other optional areas of competition included National Director’s Choice, Academic, President’s Volunteer Service Award, National Elite Supermodel, National Cover Girl, National Portfolio Model Award, National Impact Award, National Paramount Award, All-Star Awards, and America’s Sweetheart.
In addition to the required and optional competitions, the weekend also consisted of a Vision Board Party with Krystle Bell Saulsberry, Master Classes with Liz Everett Glam and Shekinah Monee, Neon Lights Party/Silent Auction, and Group Photoshoot.
The pageant emcee was Kaylan Colvin, America’s Elite Miss 2017.
The main panel of judges were Dr. Anita Lee, Summer Wofford, and Tasha Frazier.
Even though each contestant did a fabulous job, only a few contestants walked away with national crowns.
These queens were showered with gifts and prizes after the pageant, and they arose early the next day to partake in a photoshoot that included hair and makeup services. The queens are in for a monumental reign because they will experience a year of fun, traveling, and service.
It is now time for the verdict. You know the drill. Was this pageant Krystle Clear? Survey says: Of course! This pageant continues to be fun, organized, and professional. It keeps getting better and better. Honestly, I wish I was an AEM queen!
