Christmas is around the corner, and many have already starting thinking about gift ideas. Well, I want to present you with this holiday gift guide of items that may be of interest you as a pageant contestant. Family and loved ones are probably having a hard time thinking about what to get you for Christmas so this gift guide will be very beneficial.
This gift guide is not exhaustive of all the gifts that may be of interest to someone in pageantry, but it is a start. I have narrowed down this guide into the following categories: books/magazines, swimwear, jewelry & accessories, and coaching services.
1. Books/Magazines
I am a firm believer that pageant girls cannot truly be successful until they develop a love for reading. Reading helps you to develop a deeper knowledge and understanding of the world around you. Also, there are several books/magazines out there that specifically meet a pageant girl’s needs.
Manifest the Crown teaches women and girls key principles on what it takes to succeed in pageantry.
Cost: $10.00 (Paperback) and $4.99 (Kindle)
Affirm the Queen contains 50 powerful affirmations that empower women and girls for success so they are able to manifest all of their desires.
Cost: $8.00 (Paperback) and $2.99 (Kindle)
Pageantry Magazine is a quarterly magazine that covers everything from competitions to national and international events. It is known as the “Bible of the Industry.”
Cost: You can order a yearly subscription for only $18.00 or a two year subscription for $30.00.
2. Swimwear
Even though the Miss America Organization has done away with their swimsuit competition, there are still some systems that still has this a part of their competition. One company that specializes in competition swimwear is Vizcaya Swimwear.
Vizcaya Swimwear, founded by Lisa Opie, offers competition style swimwear for pageant contestants. They have severed as the official swimwear sponsor for pageants such as Miss United States, Miss Earth United States, and Miss Universe Iceland.
Cost: $49.99 and up
Another company that I recommend is Venus. They have swimwear in different styles and colors. I actually bought my competition swimwear from Venus when I competed for Ms. Alabama United States in 2015.
Cost: Varies
3. Jewelry & Accessories
If you are like me, you love earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. One place I love to shop for my accessories are Natural Girls Rock. This company would be especially of interest to my pageant girls who wear their hair in its natural state.
Natural Girls Rock is a lifestyle brand that was created to support and education women to wear their hair in its natural state. They offer clothing, accessories, and hair care products. I have been a customer for several years now, and I am well pleased with them.
Cost: Varies
4. Coaching Services
I know this is not a tangible gift, but every pageant girl would appreciate the gift of coaching services. Coaching helps a contestant develop skills that will be beneficial to her on and off the stage.
I recommend two coaching services: The Glamour Effect and Crown Chasers Collective.
These coaching platforms are founded by Krystle Bell Saulsberry and Jessica C. Alexander, respectively. These ladies are current and former queens who have extensive experience and knowledge of the pageantry industry. The Glamour Effect and Crown Chasers Collective offer packages that are specifically designed to meet a contestant’s needs.
Cost: Depends on the service
