A few weeks ago I was checking my business email, and I came across a message stating that I was nominated for the ACHI Magazine Awards. At first I thought it was spam, and I didn’t act on the email right away. However, I kept receiving following up emails, phone calls, and text messages about the event. I decided to do my research, and I soon realized it was a legitimate event. After this realization, I became very excited! Let me share a little more about the ACHI Magazine Awards.
What does ACHI mean?
ACHI (pronounced “Aah Chee”) has a variety of definitions. In Chinese it means, “big sister.” In Nigerian, it means “strength.” In Arabic, it means “sisterhood.” Strength in Sisterhood is meaning that the ACHI Magazine chose to adopt.
What are the ACHI Magazine Awards?
ACHI Magazine is owned and operated by the 501(c) 3 nonprofit, ACHI Women Supporting Women Association, Inc. The purpose of the ACHI Magazine Awards is to shine a spotlight on the accomplishments of successful women throughout the country. With this annual event, they hope to encourage the next generation of women to come by showcasing the talent and success stories of fearless women who are unafraid to pursue their dreams. The mission is to inspire, empower, encourage and to educate the minds of women from all races, cultures, and creeds.

What are the Awards Criteria?
Women who, through consistency and longevity, have achieved success in a chosen profession, career or ministry are eligible for consideration, but those who are new to their field but have shown true passion. Potential nominees are those persons who are viewed not only for what they have individually achieved but also for the achievement they inspire in others.
I have the distinct pleasure of being nominated for two categories:
ACHI Author of the Year
ACHI Mentor of the Year
The Alabama Edition of the ACHI Magazine Awards ceremony will take place on Friday, October 18, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. at Wilson Auditorium, Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts in Montgomery, Alabama.
I am so blessed I am able to be a part of such an event that honors women leaders and their accomplishments. As an author and mentor, I make a conscious effort to utilize this platform to empower women and girls for success. I am very grateful someone took notice of my work and decided to nominate me for this prestigious honor. I cannot wait to partake in the ACHI experience.
