What is your definition of a queen? Explain your personal platform. What is a pressing issue that your state is currently facing, and how would you solve it? These are sample questions that you may hear during the interview portion of a pageant. It is important that you do well in the interview because more than likely this will be a large percentage of the competition, and it can be the determining factor for winning the crown. The interview is your premiere opportunity to display your intelligence and personality in front of the judges before the stage competition. Below are 12 tips that will help you become interview ready so that you are well on your way to manifesting a crown.
- Make sure you have on the proper attire and that you are well-groomed.
- Introduce yourself. (ex. name and contestant #)
- Display confidence throughout the entire interview process.
- Maintain good posture.
- Stay focused.
- Carefully listen to the judges’ questions and answer them accordingly. Speak with confidence, and try not to ramble.
- Maintain good eye contact with judges.
- Avoid distractions (ex. talking with hands, fidgeting, looking around, etc.)
- Avoid filler words. (ex. uh, um, etc.)
- When answering political questions, make sure you can back up your answer with factual information.
- Smile! Everyone loves a happy and approachable contestant.
- Once the interview is complete, thank the judges for their time.
