For starters, I know this post is long overdue considering AmericasMart Atlanta World of Prom was weeks ago. Aside from being a full time blogger and pageant consultant, I am also an experiential marketing professional and an AARP Community Program Instructor. Yes, I am a serial entrepreneur/workaholic so sometimes I deviate from the regular blog posting schedule (normally Tuesdays and Thursdays). Even though I may be a self-proclaimed Type A Personality, I still have my “not so” perfect days. Go figure! Anyway, here is the long awaited recap of the 2018 AmericasMart Atlanta World of Prom.
For the second year in a row, I got to experience the magic of one of the largest permanent wholesale trade centers in the world: AmericasMart Atlanta. Every August, the World of Prom makes its way to Atlanta. This year’s event took place on August 7-11, 2018. Last year I attended the event as a showroom dresser for MacDuggal, but this year I attended in a different capacity.

I was able to attend the event as a media attendee. As a media attendee, I had access to all of the showrooms, educational events, and parties. Having the opportunity to peruse the showrooms of Sherri Hill, Rachel Allan, MacDuggal, Faviana, Alyce Paris, and Johnathan Kayne is an experience like none other. I got to experience firsthand the Spring 2019 lines of these well known prom and pageant designers. I was also able to get a few goodies from some of the showrooms. I especially could not leave “Market” without my beloved Sherri Hill branded “Pretty Water.” Hey, I have to stay pretty and hydrated as I walk from showroom to showroom.
I even had the opportunity to interview and see the collection of designer Talisha White. Talisha got her start by styling rappers. For her first pageant, she designed her very own fun fashion attire that ripped and turned into a romper. Talisha White has been in business for 3 years, and she specializes in prom and pageant wear. She has appeared at New York Fashion Week for the past few years, and she will be making an appearance again at this year’s fashion week.
Aside from showroom visits and delectable delights, I also got the opportunity to attend a Meet and Greet and Influencer Q&A with Louise Roe, World of Prom Fashion Show, Social Media Marketing 101 Educational Workshop, and an a Trend Series: The Accessories Edition. My favorite session was the Social Media Marketing 101 class. I learned how to increase my following and engagement on social media so I can not only attract more readers to my blog, but I also want to attract more clients to my consulting business. My Instagram following and engagement has already increased significantly since implementing what I learned in the class.
I was pleased with this year’s World of Prom. I always learn something new and make wonderful connections. I actually was able to formulate a partnership with Faviana as well as some other brands that you will be hearing about in the near future. My only regret that is that I did not have the opportunity to experience all five days of the event due to personal budget restraints, but the two days that I did get to attend was worth the time and investment. I am already planning and looking forward to the 2019 World of Prom. Who knows what I will get to learn and experience?
